EMERGENCY services have left the scene of a serious collision on the M3 which led to the motorway closing.
The incident, which involved a van and a lorry, happened at 10.43am today (Tuesday, May 16).
The motorway was closed, southbound, between Junctions 9 and 11 near Winchester with diversions in place.
Emergency services, such as the air ambulance, were spotted at the scene, however no details have been officially released about the people involved.
Many people took to social media to express their concern for those involved.
One posted: "Hope the drivers were rescued ok."
Another said: "Thoughts to all those involved, and to the emergency services."
Hampshire Constabulary had been carrying out enquires at the site for most of the day. They issued an update at 8.45pm.

A police spokesman said: "We wanted to provide an update on the M3 road closure following a serious collision earlier today (16 May).
"Our officers have now left the scene and the road closure has been handed over to Highways England, and the road will be fully open shortly.
"Thank you for your patience."
