THE Great Kings Worthy Clean Up is back on Saturday, May 20 with its Spring litter pick. The parish council is urging regular and new volunteers to join in from 2-4pm, starting from Tubbs Hall in Fraser Road. Refreshments and equipment will be provided and children must be accompanied by an adult.
AS a result of increasing interest in girls football in the area, the Worthys Youth Football Club is hoping to create another girls under 14s team for the 2023/24 season to play in the Hampshire Girls football league, with matches on Saturday mornings.
THE Worthy Players' production of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em will be on stage at the Jubilee Hall in May. The show by Guy Unsworth is based on the 1970s TV comedy series by Raymond Allen.
Tickets (£10 for adults and £8 for children, students and seniors) to performances on May 19, 20 and 26 at 7.30pm and May 27 at 6.30pm are available at theworthyplayers.co.uk/whats-on.
SPARSHOLT’S Parochial Church Council (PCC) is in desperate need of more members to keep St Stephen's Church and its services running.
There is currently no secretary so the treasurer has to carry out both roles. In the latest Sparsholt newsletter, the PCC said: “This is an unsustainable situation. We need three or four people to join our numbers on the PCC, one willing to be the secretary which involves taking the minutes at the meetings.”

HAMPSHIRE and Isle of Wight Amphibian and Reptile Group (HIWARG) is urging Littleton residents to report and record sightings and hearings of Midwife Toads.
Pete West of HIWARG posted on Facebook: “Midwife Toads are not a native species to the UK, but have been found in several colonies in parts of the country. Hampshire has been named as one of these locations in several sources, but there are no actual records that we are aware of.
“Despite the lack of records, there is an anecdotal comment to suggest that Midwife Toads were known from the Littleton area and so we are reaching out to residents for their help in recording these elusive toads.”
Midwife Toads are smaller than England's native toads, with adults reaching around 5cm in length. They can also be distinguished by their vertical pupils and their beeping call. Breeding usually takes place between April and June so they should have been calling for a few weeks now.
Pete continued: “We are hoping that residents in the Winchester area (especially Littleton, Weeke and Teg Down) will be willing to help by listening out on warm damp nights for the beeping toads. If you do hear these calls it would be really helpful if you can record the calls on your phone, or take photos if you manage to see one.”
For all sightings/recordings contact the HIWARG amphibian officer at amphibians@hiwarg.org.uk or HIWARG on Facebook facebook.com/groups/455730808110700.
