A HAMPSHIRE airstrip is hosting a live music event to raise funds for a historic village church.
Farley Farm Airstrip will welcome the Michelmersh Silver Band and singer songwriter Dean Dyson to the event on May 21, starting at 3pm.
It will be raising money for the Norman church of St John’s Farley Chamberlayne.
Murray Weston, from Farley Friends, said: “Keen walkers and cyclists will be familiar with the small and much-loved historic Norman church of St John’s in the hamlet of Farley Chamberlayne which stands alone on the downland between Hursley and Braishfield.
“It serves a parish with just 60 on the electoral roll. Like all ancient historic structures it needs constant care and attention to its fabric and furnishings, and this requires money.

“A group of supporters called the Farley Friends are therefore arranging a live music fund-raising event which will take place in a marquee to be erected on the side of the airstrip at Farley Farm on the afternoon of Sunday May 21 starting at 3pm. The event is hosted courtesy of the Graham family of Farley Farm.”
The event will include an auction of promises and a raffle.
Cream teas will be available throughout the afternoon. Entrance £10 on the day, £8 in advance (concession rate £6 for OAPs and children under 12).
