How lovely it is now that Garnier Road is closed to traffic. It makes the water meadows and St Catherine’s Hill so much nicer.

St Cross has almost become peaceful again although the noise from the M3 can still be heard (why there is no type of sound proofing barrier or fence along the M3 as it passes through Winchester is criminal, or should be – what a massive difference that would make to the constant noise pollution) but that’s a different story.

Perhaps, like the old by-pass and Five Bridges Road, Garnier Road could be let to return to nature instead of going back to the busy rat run it has now become.

Wouldn’t that be nice?
