WINCHESTER Science Centre has announced a new event which will explain the science behind popular animal myths.
Is a spider’s silk as strong as steel? Can snakes smell fear? Science Explained: Myth Busting Creatures, at the science centre on June 1, will allow visitors to meet real-life beasties such as snakes, tarantulas and lizards, and to discover the truth about these creatures in a hosted Planetarium talk.
Brave your fears and interact with them before taking a seat in the Planetarium to find out more. Animal encounter experts, ZooLab, will be hosting a live talk where they will demystify the stories around these unique creatures.
Science Explained visitors will also be able to enjoy some of the science centre's other activities. There will be live science demonstrations occurring throughout the evening, with a bar open for families to grab refreshments as they explore the two floors of interactive exhibits.

The event is one of a series of fundraising events for Wonderseekers, the charity behind Winchester Science Centre.
The event is part of the science centre’s Mysteries and Mayhem season. Taking place from Saturday, May 13 to Monday, June 5, families are invited to step into a world of weird science, curiosity, and investigation.
During the day visitors can head outside to discover what the mischievous dormouse has been up to during some dormouse orienteering, explore mysterious insects and animals through intricate x-rays in Bio:Space, marvel at the wonder of the magnetic ferrofluid in Science Live and experience the exciting live science demos of a brand new science show, Chemistry Crime Squad.
