POLICE were called to a couple’s home after they found a suspicious-looking time capsule from the war.
The Romsey residents were digging to replace a fence when they found the metal object.
Following a concerned call, officers arrived and were informed by the EOT - their Ministry of Defence counterparts - that it was a shell from World War Two.
Test Valley Cops posted on Friday, April 21: “A couple, who were digging to replace a fence, called this in to us with concerns around its nature (obviously!). From the EOT, our MOD counterparts, this was a shell from WW2! Talk about no ordinary day at the office! The EOT came out again this morning and got rid of this unique item.”
Hampshire police has been contacted for more information.
