EVERSLEY Park should be finished by the beginning of May. If the safety inspection is successful, Kings Worthy Parish Council hopes to open the majority of the play area after school on Friday, May 5 ready for the coronation weekend. This will be confirmed nearer the time.

KINGS Worthy Primary School’s Parent Teacher and Friends’ Association received a £1,000 grant from the parish council to fund renovations for the school’s bird hide. The hide will also be open to the community to use. Anyone with a community project that needs funding should fill out an application form at kingsworthy-pc.org.uk/grants/.

TICKETS are on sale for Sparsholt’s coronation celebrations at the village shop. The festivities begin at 12.30pm on Sunday, May 7 with a drinks reception on the Memorial Green, before an afternoon of live music, lunch, Sparsholt Bake Off results and Sparcrufts Dog Show. A cash and card bar will be open from 12.30-7pm as well as a tea and coffee stall after lunch.

The event is free to all but lunch tickets must be purchased from the shop. Adults cost £10, and children aged under 12 cost £5. Wine is available to pre-order but guests are being told to bring their own non-breakable crockery and cutlery. The dress code is regal, red, white and blue.

Itchen Abbas and Avington Village Hall is also having a ‘Coronation Big Lunch’ on Sunday, May 7 from midday to 3pm. Residents are welcome to come along, bring their own picnic, make a coronation crown and enter competitions. Meanwhile, Easton Village Hall’s street-party style celebration is on Monday, May 8 from midday until 4.30pm. Entertainment includes a scarecrow competition, children’s activities, hog roast or vegetarian quiche lunch and teas and cakes with a cash bar. A BRITAIN’S Got Talent finalist will be performing at Littleton Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 20. The rat pack inspired singer, who performs under the stage name “Born to Bublé ” will be raising money for the Royal British Legion. LITTLETON and Harestock Parish Council’s Annual Parish Assembly takes place at the Millennium Memorial Hall on Monday, May 15 at 7pm.

The evening will include a review of the council’s work, a financial report from the clerk and reports from Winchester city and Hampshire county councillors as well as an open forum for residents to share their thoughts.

THE Worthys Youth Football Club (YFC) is raising money with a Race Night at the Worthies Sports and Social Club on Saturday, April 29

Tickets cost £5 or £10 with food, with the first race starting at 7pm as well as a raffle. Food options include chicken burgers, cheese burgers, chicken strips, sausages or a veggie burger (all served with chips). Payments can be made in cash at the club or before the event.
