A SUTTON Scotney based children’s hospice has announced a new fundraising run.
On Sunday, June 11, Naomi House and Jacksplace will host the unique “Run the Runway” 5K at Solent Airport.
Runners will be able to embrace the excitement of running down a runway which is normally reserved for planes. The course will be flat, straight and free from obstacles or traffic, allowing runners the chance to secure personal best times.
Charlotte Patrick, senior events fundraiser at Naomi House and Jacksplace, said: “We have a full and varied event portfolio, however, we are always keen to add new events. As a keen jogger I know how much this new and unique event will appeal to so many local runners. This is such an exciting event which has been made possible by Solent Airport and Fareham Borough Council, we are really thankful for their joint support.
“Participants will need to be quick as there are limited places available.”

Solent Airport manager Martyn Francis said: “It is with immense pleasure that Solent Airport can play host to such an exciting charity event and a very first for us. Being able to not only raise money but awareness through this unique opportunity to ‘Run the Runway’ will hopefully bring Naomi House & Jacksplace the support that is needed for the ongoing hard work of this fantastic charity.”
The run will be chip-timed and runners of all speeds and abilities will be welcomed with the run starting at 8am. All participants will need to be aged at least 16 years of age, with entry costing £12.50.

All money raised by the event will go to support Naomi House and Jacksplace, hospices for young people. The charities enhance families lives through the provision of supportive respite care and specialist medical care for life-limited and life-threatened children and young adults, from across central southern England. Jacksplace is the only hospice for young adults in the local regions offering care, support and independence.
