THE opening of a revamped playpark in Winchester city centre has been delayed due to wet weather.
As previously reported, the children's park in Abbey Gardens closed in September for refurbishment, with plans in place to reopen in time for Easter.
However, the opening has been delayed, with the city council blaming the recent string of wet weather leading up to the holidays.

A council spokesperson told the Chronicle: “The very wet weather leading up to the Easter break meant we were unable to complete the final works needed to be able to open the park in time for the Easter holidays, as originally planned. Now the weather has improved, finishing works are underway and we look forward to opening the park very soon.
“We’ll update our website and social media channels when the park is open.”
The work has been carried out at the park to make it more inclusive. Changes include a new accessible roundabout, an inclusive swing and a communication board for non-verbal children.
The council did not provide an updated opening date for the park.
