A DEVELOPER has submitted a planning application for flats and a public car park in Alresford.

Metis Homes submitted the application to the city council on Monday, April 17.

If approved, the scheme will see several existing buildings on The Dean demolished and replaced with 14 apartments and a 40-space council-operated car park.

The proposal follows a public consultation in September attended by both stakeholders and members of the wider local community.

The 0.62-acre brownfield site is currently occupied by three, two-story flat-roofed 1960s commercial buildings.

If approved, 13 two-bedroom flats will be built alongside a single one-bedroom apartment. The apartments would meet the latest building regulation standards in terms of thermal efficiency and will include further energy-saving features, such as solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.

Meanwhile, the public car park will be located at the rear of the site.

Managing director for Metis Homes, Adam O’Brien said: “We are pleased to have submitted a planning application for this site on The Dean, which can provide quality homes for Alresford, together with a new public car park that will fulfil the ambitions of the original masterplan for The Dean by Winchester City Council. Subject to approval, this scheme will offer opportunities for people to climb onto or up the property ladder in this affluent part of Hampshire.
