THE future of a piri-piri takeout in Winchester city centre has come into question.
Barcelos Piri Piri, on Jewry Street, looks to have permanently closed its doors. The restaurant's windows have been covered and the front sign has been removed.
The Portuguese takeaway's website is also no longer operational.

The reason for the presumed closure is not currently known.
The shop originally opened in Winchester in 2018. As previously reported, it received a zero-out-of-five food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency in March 2022. This was later amended to four-out-of-five following an inspection in May.
Barcelos Piri Piri has been contacted for comment.
Staff at nearby businesses were unaware of the reasons for it shutting.
Several city centre food businesses have closed recently including Republic of Pizza and Desserts on the High Street. It is unclear whether it will be reopening and it has been unavailable for comment.
Rawberry on St George's Street has closed to be replaced by Naafi due to open later this month.
