A GROUP of Romsey walkers are trekking to Machu Picchu in the Andes Mountains to help raise money for a friend’s overseas cancer treatment.
The family of Nathan Sessions, a popular Romsey dad, are raising tens of thousands of pounds to fund potentially life-saving cancer treatment.
A crowdfunding appeal has been launched to help Nathan who has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, which has spread to his liver.
Nathan, who was diagnosed in May 2022, just weeks after the death of his dad, is remaining upbeat and is keen to look to the future with wife Lisa and ten-year-old twins Johnny and Nula.
It’s been a traumatic few years for the 47-year-old, who has also lost his mum and father-in-law.
Chemotherapy, which was initially successful, has become less effective and Nathan has been forced to look at alternatives.
Ryan Osborne, one of the organisers of the trek, said: “There are ten of us of all different ages doing this, leaving on the May 1 and we hope to raise as much as possible to go towards Nathan’s fundraising.
“It’s not going to be easy and we expect it’ll take around four days but it’ll be worth it.”

Machu Picchu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven New Wonders of the World.
Nathan is now looking into the possibility of clinical trials or an operation, most of which are abroad and can cost as much as 160,000 Euros.
The crowdfunding appeal had reached £10,000 within the first 24 hours of being posted.
The friend who launched the fundraiser, Suzanne Bundy, said Nathan has ‘never given up hope’ and remains ‘determined to beat this’. She added: "He’s always still there to help anyone else that needs it, despite how tired or unwell he may be feeling. He’s an inspiration to us all."
