AN INCORRECT road sign led people near Romsey to believe a street would be closed for an extra 14 days.
The now-removed Hampshire Highways sign along Kimbridge Lane said the road would be closed for 15 days from April 7 to 21 but a county councillor has assured residents it was wrong.
The executive lead for universal services, Cllr Nick Adams King, posted on Facebook: “I’ve been asked by some residents about the signs warning of Kimbridge Lane being closed for a fortnight from today.

“Sorry. They were placed in error.
“Kimbridge Lane will be closed for one day on April 21 for repairs to one of the bridges.
The people doing the signs clearly misunderstood what was happening. I’ve had the signs removed. Sorry again.”
The wrong sign was on display through Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 6 before being removed.
Replying to concerned residents in the comments, Cllr Adams-King added that signs that are left after they’re needed could be deemed as fly-tipping.
The councillor posted: “I have asked them to collect as many as they can that are not used, very many though are from the utility companies who are just lazy at collecting them. We’ve warned one company that we’ll consider it fly tipping unless they collect their signs.”
