LOCAL people took to the streets for a litter-picking event in an attempt to spruce up their neighbourhood in Winchester.
The Winnall Forum, a group that focuses on making a difference in the local area, organised last Saturday's event, the first of the year.
‘The Big Winnall Clean Up’ took place in Winnall Manor Park and dozens of people helping to collect scores of bags of litter within two hours.
Recently appointed co-chair of the group, Sam Feltham said: “The first Big Winnall Clean Up was a resounding success with over 60 people helping collect 30 bags of litter.
“A huge thank you to everyone involved and especially to landscape company, idverde, who provided all the litter pickers and bin bags as well as taking all the rubbish away for us.
“I’m very much looking forward to the next one in late September - the more the merrier!”
Mr Feltham has urged people to sign up to the ‘clean team’ via the website www.BigWinnallCleanUp.com.
