A WINCHESTER park and ride car park has re-opened after four weeks of repairs and improvements.

Barfield Park and Ride car park re-opened on Monday, March 27 following the closure which saw drivers cramming into the neighbouring multi storey instead.

A spokesperson for Winchester City Council previously said: “The work involves tidying up the bays (replacing shingle) and repairs to some of the main carriageway throughout the car park.”

Road markings have also been given a fresh coat of paint.

The car park in Barfield Close near Winchester Sport and Leisure Park is one of five park and ride sites. Buses continued to operate as usual throughout the closure, picking up passengers from the stop around the corner from the car park in Barfield Close.

Barfield car park has 192 standard spaces and two electric charging spots. Barfield Phase II (the multi storey) has 250 spaces, six disabled spaces, four shared use spaces for parents with children or disabled people and 16 electric charging spaces.
