A DOG salon near Winchester has received national recognition for its dog grooming training school.

Able Groomers, at Four Dells Farm in Otterbourne has won a national award for ‘Best Grooming Teaching Provider 2023’ from LUXlife Magazine.

The training school and salon, in Poles Lane, is owned and managed by Ruth Goddard and Jess Wallace, with dogs visiting the facility from Hampshire and beyond.

Groomer Louise Forster said: “We’re over the moon. We groom on a consensual basis, allowing dogs to feel more in control and therefore less fearful, building a trustful relationship over time to allow them to enjoy their visits.

“We aim for all our dogs to feel happy and relaxed, looking forward to coming to play and leaving looking gorgeous and smelling clean.

“We specialise in grooming dogs who have anxiety or have had previous bad experiences that have put them off being groomed, as well as dogs who have health issues and need special care, although all dogs are welcome for breed standard as well as pet grooms.”

Building on its success, Able Groomers is fundraising for Eastleigh Guide Dogs and will be offering a £10 wash and blow dry to dogs on Sunday, April 2. Appointments must be booked in advance at ablegroomers.com or by calling 0196271457.
