A ROAD in Romsey was rendered impassable due to a car accident which saw emergency services called on Sunday, March 5.

The accident, which occurred on Greatbridge Road at approximately 5pm, saw a collision involving four cars near the Duke on the Test pub. Four people suffered minor injuries.

One of the vehicles was destroyed in a fire caused by the accident, with crews from Romsey and Redbridge attending the incident and putting out the fire.

A Hampshire Fire Service spokesperson said: “One vehicle was destroyed in a fire caused by a road-traffic-collision in Romsey yesterday evening.

“Firefighters were alerted to the two-vehicle incident on Greatbridge Road shortly after 5pm.

“Redbridge and Romsey crews were on the scene to tackle the blaze and treat a number of casualties who were passed into the care of paramedics.

“Firefighters made the scene safe before returning to station at 6.21pm.”

Police are currently investigating the accident, with a police spokesperson telling the Advertiser: “Police were called at 5.03pm on Sunday, March 5 to reports of a collision on Greatbridge Road, Romsey.

“The collision involved four vehicles; an Audi A3, a Fiat 500, a Ford Transit and a VW Toureg.

“Four people suffered minor injuries.

“The incident is under investigation.”
