I wonder if many, like me, are distressed by the number of homeless people in Winchester.
Surely most folk would not choose to sleep outside in the winter?
I have long argued that part of the delayed redevelopment in the city should be allocated to housing.
It seems to me this is urgent, not a matter that can be debated over a long time. I have understood the city council is responsible for housing.
Could they not then take a more compassionate view and actually do something?
Many of us support the Beacon (nightshelter) which does great work. But it is only a temporary solution.
My suggestion is that all councillors spend a night out on the streets, maybe that would prompt action.
