A NETWORKING group for business mums has expanded into two Hampshire locations.
Freelance Mum now meets in Winchester and Southampton for mothers in business to get some fresh air, network and bring their children.
The hub meets twice a month in Abbey Gardens and is run by Jennifer Jones, fashion stylist and founder of The Stylish Mum club, and translator Katie Morrissey.
Katie set up the first hub in Winchester before Jennifer came and liked it so much that she set up the Southampton one.
Katie said: “Being a freelancer has lots of advantages, but it can feel quite isolating and can be really challenging at times. It’s so important to connect with people who get it and a community of like-minded women is exactly what Freelance Mum offers.
“I now co-host the netwalks in both Winchester and Southampton with Jennifer. She leads the walks and I act as her wing woman. We walk at the pace of the slowest toddler and no one need worry if they’re child-free that day - members can come along wherever they are in their journey as a parent.”

Jennifer said: “I’ve done lots of networking, but nothing compares to Freelance Mum. As well as helping me build my tribe and spread the word about how my business can help mums with their style, the members are a support network.
“They are always there for me when I need help with something or just someone to get a second opinion from. As a leader, I also love seeing the other members flourish – I’ve been able to see the journey that some business owners have gone on from the beginning - watching them and their business grow is such an amazing thing to be part of.”
Freelance Mum was founded by Faye Dicker in 2013, after she struggled to juggle motherhood around her voiceover work.
The hubs across the country follow the same format but each group has its own signature features such as the ‘Prior’s Gate Selfie’ with the Winchester netwalk. The selfie is an opportunity for the mums to stop for a moment and take a photo which they can later share on social media.

Founder Faye Dicker said: “The fresh air and focus questions are an important part of Freelance Mum, it’s well recognised the importance of connecting with nature for our well-being and clarity. In a world where everything can feel fast paced, it’s even more important to take some time out and connect with fellow business owners who are on the same page. The focus questions keep conversation on track and help members get the most from the sessions.”
Faye is keen to keep growing the network across the country and attract new members to the Hampshire hubs.
