IT'S quite a long time since we had a Bishop of Winchester. Bishop Debbie seems to be, as Acting Bishop, doing a very good job. And of course we have Bishop David.
I know the Church of England with its endless bureaucracy has been working on this issue for some time. But could not the status quo be made permanent?
What matters most is the parishes and parish clergy and as a lifelong Anglican I have seen this for almost 70 years. I'm sorry to say, I feel the Church has lost its way, possibly one reason why the number of worshippers has declined over time.
I know church doesn't do management but just for once it could try. Bishops can be seen by some as quite remote figures. I don't see having three in our diocese will change that.
