EASTON and Martyr Worthy Safari Supper is returning on Saturday, March 25 after a three-year break.
Participants travel from house to house for three separate courses meeting different people at each course before a grand finale at The Farmyard in Easton, the home of Theo and Judith Mezger who have agreed to host.
For the event to run most participants are required to host a course but first-timers are often exempt. To take part, there is a donation of £25 per head with at least £10 being donated to Easton Village Hall and St Mary’s Church.
Hosts will be reimbursed £4 for starts, £5 for mains and £3 for desserts. Applications close on Saturday, March 18. To get involved contact Terry and Anna McGowan at aanamcgowan1@aol.com.
EASTON W.I. is welcoming Caroline Kirkman of Winchester Community Food Pantry to its next meeting on Thursday, March 9. Caroline, from Itchen Abbas, runs a recycling collection from her home for multiple charities and will be sharing with members and visitors how they can help.
Easton W.I. president Kyrene Beames has extended the invitation to others in the area who are interested recycling and supporting the food pantry.
Caroline recently ran a jumble sale at St Mary’s Chapel in Kings Worthy which raised more than £1,500 for the community pantry.
THE playground in Littleton has been repaired and refurbished following the arson attack last year. A new wooden climbing and balancing structure has been installed in replacement of two older pieces of equipment. The parkour surface has also been repaired.
THE Sparsholt 100 Club is recruiting more members to help fund the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and the Friends of St Stephen’s Church.
The club, which is licensed by Winchester City Council, as a lottery has donated £30,000 in total to its two beneficiaries and currently has 62 members which subscribe £10 a month to take part.
Four prize draws are set to take place this year with first place being awarded £200. The club is hoping to boost the prize money and better support St Stephen’s Church by getting more people involved. To become a member, contact Ian Hay at hay588@btinternet.com or 019627766468.
THE Plough Inn at Sparsholt has released its upcoming quiz dates. The pub’s quiz nights are free to join, with teams of up to six people allowed. ITCHEN Valley Spring Litter Pick kicks off at 10am on Saturday, March 18 from Avington War Memorial, Itchen Abbas Village Hall car park, The Cricketers Inn car park in Easton, Martyr Worthy War Memorial and the top of Chilland Lane.
Itchen Valley Parish Council chairman Patrick Appleby said: “A look at many of our verges and it is clear how much this annual event is needed with as many as possible taking part.”
