A PREPARATORY school in Hampshire is getting a new headteacher.

Sherborne House School, in Chandler’s Ford, has appointed Cordelia Cripps as its headteacher from September following the resignation of Mark Beach.

Cordelia will move up from her current position of deputy and hopes to boost the quality of teaching and learning, provide outstanding enrichment provisions and raise ambitions for its children.

Mrs Cripps joined the team in 2019 after a number of senior leadership roles in England and internationally.

The future head said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new head of Sherborne House School. I will be in the very fortunate position of leading a school that prides itself on building a community for learning; with children that enjoy the process of discovery.

“Working with the dedicated staff, I look forward to building on the already firm foundations to ensure academic excellence and an abundance of opportunity for each individual. I look forward to welcoming children and parents to the school and sharing The Sherborne House Advantage.”

As a keen runner, Mrs Cripps has encouraged others to get their trainers on with a weekly parent running group, regular staff runs and an early morning club for pupils.

The new head succeeds Mr Beach who is retiring after leading the school for four years including through covid restrictions and more recently the school’s 90th birthday. He says he is looking forward to the remainder of the year, knowing that Cordelia will build on the work being done in the school.

He said: “Sherborne House is a great school and I know that Cordelia will continue to enhance the school's already strong reputation.”
