RUNNERS pounded the pavements on a bright Sunday in the city as they took on the Winchester 10k.
They came from across the country to take part in the race on Sunday, February 19.
At last year’s event, nearly 1,000 took part. This time round, organisers expected around 2,000 participants.
The runners started the course outside Winchester Guildhall in The Broadway before completing the race by the old River Park Leisure Centre.
There was a mixture of serious competitors and people enjoying running, perhaps for the first time in an event like this.
Finishing first was 40-year-old Andy Greenleaf who completed the course in 32 minutes and beat last year’s winner George King.
Andy, from Winchester and District Athletics Club, said it was great to come first, adding: “There is great support on the route and it was a really good race with George.
“It is my first race for Winchester since 2012, so it is fantastic to be back.”
Our photographer Stuart Martin was at the race to capture the amazing faces that took part in the run.
