A company has been appointed to provide accommodation and support for adults who are homeless or imminently at risk of homelessness in Winchester.
In partnership with Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council, A2Dominion will deliver social inclusion support and housing within Winchester City from April.
The scheme will provide accommodation and 24-hour intensive support for 25 adults looking to move into independent housing.
Jo Evans, director of specialist housing at A2Dominion, said: “Excellent quality supported housing and support services are crucial and needed more than ever.
“They provide a safe, stable and supportive place to live and can be key to unlocking better outcomes.
“I am delighted to be working with Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council to provide vital supported accommodation to those experiencing homelessness.”
This opportunity will offer £326,000 per year to deliver this service.
The group provides affordable, private and social rented homes, temporary accommodation across the UK, and supported housing and homes for vulnerable people.
Last month (January), Shelter’s figures estimated that 58 people were homeless in Winchester on any night in 2022 – including 16 children.
The charity estimates that this was equivalent to one in every 2,198 people in the area.
The figures were reached using government statistics, Freedom of Information requests and data from the membership charity Homeless Link.
