Neighbours of a lodge that has been approved for use as a holiday let have raised concerns at a planning meeting.

Ms Oakley can use South Lodge, in Park Lane, Swanmore as a holiday let after Winchester City Council's planning committee permitted the plans.

Residents of Park Lane raised security concerns after an Airbnb was used at the site. A total of eight letters of objection were submitted to the council.

Jacqueline Batchelor, of Park Lane, said: “Imagine strangers walking in your garden and driving up your driveway uninvited. How might you feel? This has been our reality since the road has led to an Airbnb for the last eight months. A holiday let has new guests every week and regular cleaning staff.

"Guests were given directions to use the north access. Once they arrive, it's only natural for people to want to explore the area, But this is a problem for the safety of the park as we no longer recognise who is passing through. It will interfere with the amenity of Swanmore Park unless they use the south entrance.”

The applicant's agent Neil March said: "The site is well connected to a number of public rights of way. It's well located for introducing tourists to what the national park has to offer. There will be no physical changes to the building, so it will not impact the surrounding area.

"The proposal is small-scale, so it will only generate a small amount of additional traffic. It will also support the local rural economy."

The committee on Wednesday February 8 permitted the application unanimously.
