Five awards were given out to Romsey residents and charities as part of a new incentive from the town council.
The Mayor’s at Home annual event is intended to give a thank you to all of those who have invited the Romsey Town Mayor to one of their events during the year.
This year however there was an added bonus. From this year onwards, Romsey Town Council will give Mayor’s Awards to those individuals or organisations that they feel have made a particular contribution to the town.
Romsey Town Mayor, Cllr Neil Gwynne, handed out the awards at a ceremony at the council chamber to the following:
Romsey Carnival Committee for the outstanding way they represented the town by organising the celebrations event for the Queens’ Platinum Jubilee.
Clive Collier for his dedication to transforming the town as chairman of the project board for the design of the Piazza in Market Place. In 2022, Market Place won both the Judge's Award and People's Choice Award in the Partnership for South Hampshire's Solent Quality of Place Awards – the first time in the awards' 10-year history that a scheme has achieved winning two accolades.

Romsey Foodbank for the outstanding way in which they and their 40 volunteers have supported the town by supplying emergency food for people in crisis.
Ian Richards was honoured for achieving more than 40 years of erecting the town's summer bunting and supervising the town marshals since 2008.
Roger House was acknowledged for his long service and dedication as the allotment secretary as he retired in October 2022 after 37 years in post.
Romsey Town Mayor, Cllr Neil Gwynne, said: "It was an honour to be able to give some recognition to such amazing people and charities. They have all given so much for the town and this is a great way of honouring them for all they have done. What I did enjoy was the surprise on their faces as no one knew they were getting an award. We are very lucky to be a part of such a community-led town. to all our fantastic award winners – our town thanks you.”
