A FAMILY-run Turkish restaurant in a Hampshire village closed while staff tried to find news on their families, who were impacted by a major earthquake in Turkey.
Anatolian Turkish Restaurant, in Waltham Chase, announced shortly after 10am on Monday, February 6 that the restaurant would be closing for a few days.
The family restaurant, based in Winchester Road, posted on Facebook: “Due to the earthquake in Turkey, we are temporarily closed while we try to find out some news of our families who have been directly affected by this disaster. Thank you for understanding.”
Anatolian has since re-opened. The owners posted on Facebook: "We are so grateful for all your comments and messages. We are still waiting for news of some family members, and others have been lost or are missing.
"We appreciate all the support and kind messages from the community of Bishop's Waltham."

The restaurant has been contacted for comment.
The earthquake hit Turkey and Syria in the early hours of Monday morning and has killed more than 5,000 people.
With a magnitude of 7.8 the natural disaster was classed as major and caused buildings to collapse.
Customers have rallied round the Hampshire restaurant, with many commenting on the Facebook post: “Thinking of you and your families.”
