A ROMSEY fashion retailer has said that it will be closing, after the company was bought out of administration.

M&Co, in The Hundred, will be closing at the end of March after the retailer was bought by AK Retail Holdings.

The men and women’s fashion chain also has branches in Alton, Cosham, Petersfield, Gosport High Street, Southampton Road, Ringwood.

The Peterborough-based group has bought the brand and intellectual property of M&Co.
It collapsed into administration on 9 December and Teneo Financial Advisory was appointed as administrators of the business.

At the time of administration, the retailer had 170 stores across the UK and employed 1,910 staff.

The retailer had experienced a sharp rise in its input costs, which coincided with a decline in consumer confidence leading to increased pressure on cash flows and trading losses, according to Teneo.

M&Co has been in administration once before, in 2020, when 47 stores and 381 jobs were lost while the business was restructured and taken over by a new trading company.

Currently, the store Romsey has a sale on, with up to 30 per cent off.
