MORE than 500 students are expected to attend an event that hopes to give them inspiration for their future careers. 

EBP South will be holding its Get Inspired Basingstoke and Test Valley 2023 at the Apollo Hotel on February 9.

Students from across Hampshire will travel to the event, to be inspired about career opportunities in the Basingstoke and Test Valley areas. 

Jen Laidlaw, project coordinator at EBP South said: “Get Inspired provides students with a chance to try hands-on activities which allow them to develop their understanding of different job roles and industries.

"By connecting with students from a young age businesses can strengthen their recruitment pipeline and raise awareness of their brand and vision.”

The event, which is held in partnership with Lenovo, is sponsored by Enterprise M3, the Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC), Test Valley Borough Council and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

The aim is to help businesses engage with young people, educating them about the variety of careers in their local area and challenging job role stereotypes.

At Get Inspired Test Valley 2022 event, 97 pe rcent of student respondents who attended said that they had learnt about job types or careers that they did not know about before.

All the respondents from businesses that attended said that they would recommend others participate in this type of event.
