THE Lloyds Pharmacy in Badger Farm Sainsbury’s will close its doors as the pharmacy withdraws its services from hundreds of stores.
The pharmacy in Badger Farm is just one of 237 branches which will close across the UK.
It has been confirmed that Lloyds Pharmacies that are not based in Sainsbury’s will remain open.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Lloyds Pharmacy is withdrawing pharmacy services from our stores over the coming months.
“We will work with them to ensure customers are clear on how they can access an alternative pharmacy provision to meet their needs.”
The supermarket chain struck a deal to sell its pharmacy business to Lloyds Pharmacy in 2015 for £125m.

At the time it meant that around 2,500 Sainsbury’s pharmacy staff transferred to Lloyds.
Lloyds Pharmacy currently operates all pharmacies in Sainsbury’s supermarkets.
The UK pharmacy sector has come under growing pressure amidst calls for increased state funding support.
Chief executive officer of Lloyds Pharmacy Kevin Birch said the decision to pull out of Sainsbury’s stores was not “an easy one”.
He continued: “We would like to thank them for their continued support and assure them that we are committed to providing a smooth transition over the coming months.
“I am very grateful to all our colleagues for their dedication to our patients, customers and communities.”
It is currently unknown when the pharmacies will close.
