Winchester Cathedral's Christmas Market attracted more than 400,000 people last year.

The annual event saw another increase in visitors and excellent feedback from stall holders.

The 2022 edition was the 12th Christmas market, and ran from November 18 to December 22.

The Inner Close had a wide range of stalls featuring gifts, food and drink from across the UK.

A cathedral spokesman said: “We think around 450,000 people over the period, which is an increase year on year.

“The performance stage was well received by all our local community groups and we had over 80 performers join us.

“Anecdotal visitor feedback and collated trader feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with 95 per cent of traders saying their experience either met or exceeded their expectations. One of our traders said ‘Everything was very well organised and the stewards were extremely helpful. The friendliness and can do attitude of everyone involved makes Winchester a great place to trade! Another saying ‘I had the best neighbours and have loved being part of this Christmas market community’. Customers loved the mix of high quality traders this year, particularly in the Makers Market where we had an incredible range of local artisan products on offer.

“This was our 12th market and will be back bigger and better in 2023.”
