Winchester Sport and Leisure Park has been going from strength to strength according to the city council.

Cllr John Tippett-Cooper asked about how the leisure park, which opened in 2021, was performing.

Cllr Lucille Thompson, cabinet member for business and culture, said: “I am pleased to report that our operators Everyone Active (EA) provide a full range of outreach programmes in partnership with others including the council.

“These are for people with different health needs and levels of ability, a range of age groups and from locations across the district. We work closely with EA to deliver their sports development and health and wellbeing programmes, which include activities for children, young people, and adults to take part in on a regular basis. Activities include: a project for young people under the care of Southampton Hospital. Three weeks were carried out in the summer (swimming, netball and gym), October and Christmas holidays. In-between these gaps, participants have had a free membership given to them, and all now have their own gym programmes.

“Pilot project with Winchester Beacon that provides memberships for service users, currently there are five members benefitting from this project.

“Falls prevention, yoga, tai-chi and resistance training for residents of Chesil Lodge, in partnership with Hampshire County Council, which supports good physical health and help them to feel positive and live independently.
