A NEW Italian restaurant is coming to Winchester, taking over a lot which was previously left empty after a noodle bar left the city.
The lot, located in Bridge Street, is being taken over by a new restaurant La Gastronomia, which will offer a “classic Italian restaurant” experience for the people of Winchester.
The lot has been empty since its previous occupants, Asian eatery Nuudle Bar, closed its doors in 2022, with a post on Facebook explaining that the decision to close was made in light of difficulties due to the cost-of-living crisis.

The post said: "As part of our plan moving forward we have decided to close some of our takeaways. With the cost of living situation and other factors we have had to make some difficult decisions and appreciate your understanding with this."
The 129 sq m premises has since been advertised online with estate agents Goadsby and comes with a two-bedroom first floor flat.
Work is currently underway inside the lot to convert it into a restaurant.
It is not yet currently known when La Gastronomia will be open for business.
