A MAJOR route is set to close for one week for improvement to be made.

Rownhams Lane in North Baddesley will be closed for seven days and a diversion route will be in place.

The road is being closed as part of Hampshire County Council’s programme to make Hampshire’s roads more resilient to the effects of extreme weather and heavy traffic.

Work will be carried out on various parts of the road and will start on January 20.

The council said: "Due to the nature of the work and for safety reasons, it is necessary to carry the work out under a road closure with a signed diversion route in place.

"The road will be reopened outside each working shift."

The council has warned that the work may need to be postponed at very short notice based on the latest weather forecast.

As part of Hampshire County Council’s programme to make Hampshire’s roads more resilient to the effects of extreme weather and heavy traffic, we will be undertaking Heavy Patching works at various locations on, Rownhams Lane, North Baddesley.
