HAMPSHIRE Cultural Trust has revealed a selection of events at Winchester Arc in January.

With hands-on visual arts activities, comedians and a new film programme, here is some of what is coming to The Arc next year.

Starting January 4, join Winchester-based graphic designer Dan Bee for an exciting, six week course, Become a Digital Designer: The Basics, and learn the fundamentals of communicating visually in the digital age.

The Arc is also hosting a session dedicated to internet safety for adults, taking place on January 26.

This is perfect for anyone looking for strategies and tools to protect themselves and minimise risks when using the internet.

There will also be a range of workshops coming to The Arc, with the Winchester Life Drawing Club coming to the centre every month from January to April to inspire the community to get drawing.

Multi-disciplinary artist Lorna Carmen McNeill is hosting a five-week course dedicated to creative art for wellbeing, starting January 9.

The course is suitable for anyone looking to try new techniques and mediums.

There will also be a series of workshops taking place on Thursday afternoons, the first of which, on January 19, will look at how to upcycle Christmas cards.

A number of exhibitions will also come to the Arc, starting with A Farewell to Art: Chagall, Shakespeare and Prospero, open in the gallery until February 12.

In this exhibition, attendees will be able to explore a rare, limited edition portfolio by Marc Chagall featuring 50 illustrations created to reflect his interpretations of Shakespeare’s play The Tempest in a touring show from Ben Uri Gallery and Museum, London.

The Arc is also hosting a number of exciting activities and events in celebration of the exhibition, including a five-week course covering the basics of drawing and how to use materials such as pencil, pen, charcoal, ink and paint to realise what inspires you.

A wonderful family theatre show will also be coming to The Arc.

Suitable for ages three and above, Professor Slug’s House of Bugs – coming to The Arc on January 29 – is an interactive show packed full of colourful puppets, catchy songs, and educational information about the wonderful world of bugs.

The Arc’s regular comedy night, Barnstormers Comedy, will also return on January 20.

January will see MC Kevin Precious joined by BBC New Comedy Awards and Funny Women Awards finalist Karen Bayley, BBC Three/MTV star Jason Patterson and international stand-up stalwart Mark Maier.

Daliso Chaponda is also bringing his hilarious new show Apocolypse Not Now to The Arc on January 27.
