A NEW bubble tea shop has opened at the top of Winchester’s High Street.
Located in Unit 65B, Boba Moon opened on Saturday, December 17, offering a range of bubble teas, alongside unique food items.
Despite a slow start due to decorations not being in place, director Trang Phung said that Winchester has been welcoming to the new bubble tea location.
She said: “When people pass by and they do come in to ask about the shop, they are very curious about it.

“But we have no sideboard, so they are curious about what we sell. It’s not that we are the new shop.”
While the shop is yet to be fully furnished, Boba Moon will feature a unique astronaut theme with seats and tables so customers will be able to sit in the shop and enjoy their drinks without having to leave the premises.
She explained: “We want to make a theme for people who come here, so they don’t just have bubble tea, but they have an experience, so they can have a place they can enjoy with their friends or family.”

She continued: “Most of the things here are handcrafted.
“Like, all the jams for the fruit tea are made ourselves, it’s not bought from the supplier, it’s hand crafted.”
Another item which Trang hopes will make Boba Moon stand out from its competitors are “Croffles”.
A brand new idea by Trang, these sweet treats are a combination of waffles which come with a variety of different toppings, from strawberry and cream to Nutella, and are made to order in-store.
Trang also explained that the store will hope to host a range of events in 2023, including one welcoming in the Lunar New Year.

Boba Moon is the third bubble tea shop to open in Winchester, alongside Mooboo at the Brooks Centre and CUPP Bubble Tea at Unit 98 on Winchester High Street.
Bubble tea originated in Taiwan in the 1980s, becoming increasingly popular across the world.
Created by blending tea, milk and fruit juices and then adding different flavoured pearls and serving with ice, the drink has been adapted into the UK drinks market with a variety of different takes being offered by restaurants up and down the UK.
