Lawrie was assisted in switching the lights on by Stockbridge Football Club life president Dave Webb, who has over 65 years of service to the club.
Lawrie quipped that he was hoping that, having met Dave, he might be in the running for the manager's job.
Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held at the Town Hall for the present and past players of Stockbridge Football Club.
