Winchester churches are opening their doors to provide a warm welcome during the colder months.
Spaces will be made open seven days a week.
The End Fuel Poverty Coalition estimates that 16.4 million people will be in fuel poverty this winter. The Warm Welcome campaign has already attracted 2,500 organisations across the UK committed to support people struggling to heat their homes.
Josh Herbert, leader of the Salvation Army in Parchment Street, said: “Winchester is not immune to this cost of living crisis which is why the churches are stepping in to help. By joining the Warm Welcome campaign, each church provides a space that is free, warm welcoming and safe.”

The campaign will run at least until the February half-term and there are more opportunities for a Warm Welcome in the pipeline. Check the Salvation Army Facebook page for weekly updates on sessions available.
Josh said: “If your church is doing something for Warm Welcome which we don’t know about, please let me know so I can add it to the directory.”
