A PIECE OF Winchester transport history is being offered as storage space.
The goods shed on Barfield Close, Bar End, served the Newbury to Southampton railway from the 19th century until it closed under the Beeching Axe in the 1960s.
The building was bought by the city council and until recently they hoped to convert it into a business centre.
Covid and the economic downturn have scuppered those plans and instead the building and open space is being offered as open and covered storage. The site is 0.6 acres.
It is being marketed by Southampton property estate agents Vail Williams.
Nik Cox, of Vail Williams, said: "It has only just gone onto the market. It is open storage land with a little bit of shelter and there is always demand."
Mr Cox said the expected rent would be around £80,000 a year.
