A BRITISH fashion designer introduced her latest collection with an in-store opening at a popular Alresford boutique.

Hayley Menzies showcased the arrival of her autumn/winter collection in West Street's Moda Rosa on Wednesday, November 16.

The shop, owned by Rosie Wild, allowed the designer to flaunt the collection as models posed from head to toe in this season's designs.

Hampshire Chronicle:

Hayley said: "It's a lovely collection, it's fun, easy to wear and it is 'now'. We have put so much into the details. I chose everything from the buttons to the fabrics.

"This collection is called Return of the Space Cowgirl after being inspired by Jamiroquai's Space Cowboy and I thought, 'that's a brilliant theme'.

"I wanted the collection to have the woman wearing them to feel super confident."

Hayley started selling scarves, shawls and accessories on a market stall on Notting Hill's Portobello Road in 2010, before moving on to dresses, which she admitted was a learning curve.

She said: "I was designing and making scarves and accessories at the start of my journey. Over the decade I have made a million mistakes. I tried doing so much early on, but without the expertise. I failed dramatically on many occasions, but I was doing it on my own.

"Now, it feels amazing. I'm always having to pinch myself. I can't believe I'm still here. I love what I do and it all makes it worthwhile."

Moda Rosa owner, Rosie Wild said: "I was walking around the exhibition and I knew I had to have the collection in the shop. It's sought after so everyone was pleased to find the collection in our shop."

Hayley showcased items from silk, denim and cotton dresses, tops, trousers, accessories, cardigans and boots.

She is already hard at work with her new collection, Memories of Eutopia, which is inspired by paintings from the 1980s.
