A CENTRE which provides emotional and practical support to anyone whose life is affected by cancer would provide dozens of extra counselling sessions with a possible share of an amazing £128,000 cash giveaway.
Jane Scarth House in Romsey has supported thousands of families across Hampshire since its inception in 1995.
Now the charity, which operates with a small team of staff and a band of 40 regular volunteers, has been shortlisted for this year's giveaway by our parent company’s charitable arm, The Gannett Foundation.

£128,000 in cash is being provided to support local charities across the country and we are delighted to have a £16,000 share to give away in our area.
You nominated in your thousands and our editorial team chose a shortlist of ten charities from these nominations that will share in the £16,000, including Jane Scarth House.
Charity ambassador Sarah Rowcliffe said: "We are seeing very high demand for our services, particularly counselling and we would like to offer more counselling sessions each week to ensure that people are seen quickly, at the time that they really need the support.
Each counselling session, for patients, adult family members and the bereaved in person, online or over the phone, costs £25. The full cost of counselling to the charity is approximately £2,900 per month, covering four self-employed counsellors on a part-time basis.
Jane Scarth House services include counselling, complementary therapies, befriending, information, meditation, Qigong, Macmillan HOPE courses, regular clinics for finance/welfare and legal issues and bereavement support.
The charity, founded in memory of a local resident and mum of two, receives many referrals from local hospitals, nursing teams and GP surgeries but anyone can access their support.
Last year Southampton charity Communicare was among the good causes we helped. It secured a £1,371 grant to help it bring people together and to combat isolation and loneliness in the city.
Readers are collecting tokens from our newspapers which are then taken to collection points across our region or posted. Each token collected will be used to allocate cash to the nominated charity – so if your favourite charity collects 50 per cent of all tokens, it will receive 50 per cent of the £16,000!
