Every November tens of thousands of people come together to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

This year, Winchester will fall silent on Sunday, November 13 in memory of servicemen and women who lost their lives in numerous conflicts around the globe.

Here is what you need to know ahead of Remembrance Day 2022:

Winchester

The Remembrance parade returns this year with around 150 military personnel plus charity representatives, veterans, and cadets arriving and forming up in The Broadway.

At around 9.25am the procession will march to the cathedral's west door led by The Band and Bugles of The Rifles. They will be closely followed by a civic procession.

At 10am the cathedral bell will ring to signal the start of the service, which will be conducted by Bishop Debbie Sellin and Dean Catherine Ogle and include music and readings.

Wreaths are traditionally laid at the War Memorial by dozens of local groups and associations, led by Admiral Iain Henderson, Vice-Lord Lieutenant, representing His Majesty the King.

At the conclusion of the wreath laying, the civic and military processions will gather and walk back to the Guildhall, reversing their route.

The Broadway will be closed to through traffic from 8.30am to accommodate the ceremony and the market.
