A NEW restaurant is gearing up to open its doors in Winchester

Brunch restaurant Honey + Harvey is opening on Wednesday, November 9 in the building formerly occupied by The Square.

It is a chain that has seen success in Suffolk, after it started there in 2011, before opening its first branch in Hampshire in Stockbridge earlier this year.

Hampshire Chronicle:

Honey + Harvey MD Joe Fellows said: "We are delighted with how our new store in the Square is looking.

"We're excited to welcome our first guests and to offer a taste of our award-winning menu in the heart of Winchester.

"We're pleased to be working alongside our other businesses to reimagine brunch in this vibrant and historic location in the city of Winchester."

The Winchester chain is being run by the same people behind the newly-opened nearby Winchester Bakery.

Hampshire Chronicle:

The restaurant will serve a menu inspired by locally sourced produce and lovingly crafted speciality coffee. There will also be more traditional breakfast items and pastries on the menu as well as vegan and vegetarian options.

Executive chef David Shaw said: "Honey + Harvey firmly believes that great food made with great quality ingredients shouldn't be restricted to the big cities. We love keeping things local and have proudly joined Hampshire Fare."

Hampshire Fare members feature on the menu, such as meat from Hoggett & Boar butchers in Broughton, free-range eggs from Vale Farm in Kings Worthy and fresh milk from family-run Cross Valley Farm.

The premises has seating inside and outside, in a rear courtyard with heating or on the street outside.

The restaurant has had a refresh, a lick of paint with new seating and a new counter installed, along with new flooring, carried out by Southampton-based contractors SM5 Developers.

Joe added: "We have created a much more comfortable seating area. It will be a nice space to sit, it is a much more comfortable area."

A special preview brunch was held on Monday, November 7 with selected ladies from across Winchester invited to try out the new menu.

As well as a new menu, the restaurant will be serving for longer hours, with a new focus on alcohol, opening until 10pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (last orders at 9pm).
