THE city's first comic book fair is coming to an art centre at the end of November.
Winchester Comics Fair is being organised by comic publishers Tim Bird and Julian Payne.
It will be held at The Nutshell Arts Centre in Kings Walk, on November 26 from 10.30am-4pm.
Tim and Julian hope to bring together readers and creators from the local area to celebrate the medium of comics.
Winchester has a thriving creative scene with many local artists and printmakers, as well as a world famous art school.
The duo hope to introduce the world of self-published and small-press independent comics to a new audience in Winchester.
Tim said: “Julian and I have both been making comics for around ten years. We publish them ourselves and sell them online and at comics fairs around the country.

“I met Julian at a comics convention called Thought Bubble in Leeds in 2018 and became a fan of his work. His comics have a folk-horror element that I really like. At the time I was living in London, but I moved to Winchester last year and got back in touch with him.
“We decided it would be fun to try and organise our own comics fair. There’s a very creative scene in and around Winchester with the art school and some very talented local artists, but we felt comics weren’t really being represented. We hope to show that comics aren’t all superheroes but in fact cover every genre.
“We had a huge response from people hoping to exhibit at the show, and are going to struggle to fit everyone into the Nutshell Centre. Hopefully we’ll be able to show visitors to the event how diverse comics can be, and there’ll be something for everyone.
“A lot of the exhibitors we have lined up self-publish their work, but we’ll also have creators who have had work has been published through independent comics publishers.”
The Winchester Comics Fair is a not-for-profit event, which will be free to enter for visitors.
