A FESTIVE event is returning to Winchester to showcase Hampshire’s finest still and sparkling wines.
Fairy Lights and Fizz, a popular fixture for wine drinkers within Winchester’s Christmas calendar, is back on Friday, December 9 in Guildhall Winchester after a three-year break.
The annual English wine-tasting event, hosted by Vineyards of Hampshire, is one of two events a year that allows people to sample Hampshire’s quality sparkling and still wines in one place.

From 6pm-10pm visitors can learn about new grapes and blends and find a Hampshire fizz their Christmas meal. Producers from Black Chalk, Cottonworth, Danebury Vineyards, Exton Park, The Grange, Hambledon, Hattingley and Raimes will be joined this year by new members Quob Park and Louis Pommery England.
Danebury Vineyards’ head of sales, Caroline Stevens, said: “This will be the Vineyards of Hampshire third year at the historical Guildhall Winchester, an ideal central location for the surrounding vineyards to bring their wine to the County’s capital.
“The grand Bapsy Hall will be festooned in fairy lights creating a wonderful atmosphere for friends of the vineyards, the vineyards club subscribers, and the English wine curious to come taste the different styles of sparkling wine on offer, talk to the winemakers to find out more about the sparkling wines made on their doorstep and stock up on festive fizz.”

Tickets, costing £27.54 online or £30 on the door, include a glass and a tasting sample of more than 20 sparkling wines. Attendees can also buy a full glass of wine from the Fizz Bar or a bottle from the Fizz Shop.
