A REPAIR shed hosted by a men’s charity is back this month to help boost the sustainability of people’s belongings.

Romsey Men’s Shed has been running its repair shed on the last Saturday of each month since October 2018. The next repair session, hosted by the charity which aims to reduce social isolation for its members, is set to take place on Saturday, October 29, 10am until midday at Romsey School.

The group fixes small appliances such as toys, bikes, furniture and tools to save them from going into landfill. The charity, which opened its shed in June 2018, encourages donations in return for successful repairs to help fund running costs and further community projects.

Chairman Malcolm Kaill said: “Our aim is to extend the lives of useful things that might otherwise be thrown away.

“People are very positive, bringing in all sorts of things and typically we can repair 85 per cent of the items brought in.”

As well as the monthly repair shed, the community group has helped many organisations in the area such as Romsey Foodbank, Romsey Show, schools and nurseries with things like building and renovations.
