A man who died in a fire at his flat in Winchester has been named as an inquest opens into his death.
Jamez Robert John Mariner, 47, died in hospital on October 11 following a blaze at the property in Staple Gardens on October 9.
An inquest opening at Winchester Coroner's Court on Monday, October 24 heard how police responded to a concern for safety incident at the address shortly after midday.
When they arrived they noticed smoke inside the flat. Fire and ambulance crews were called.

Mariner was found in his bathroom after firefighters forced entry into the building.
He was taken to Southampton General Hospital before later being transferred to Morriston Hospital in Swansea where he was pronounced dead.
His family visited him before he died, the inquest heard.
A post-mortem examination was conducted and the cause of death was given as major burn injuries.
Senior Coroner Christopher Wilkinson adjourned the inquest for a full hearing on September 14, 2023.
