When the UK surprisingly voted to leave the EU in June 2016 I thought the next couple of years would be interesting. So I began regularly collecting copies of The Week and Private Eye. Six years later this has become a fascinating archive of six years of ever-increasing chaos.
It is so easy to forget the drama of Theresa May’s premiership. At least she was principled and well-intentioned and sensible enough to put the Brexiteers in charge of making Brexit happen. They were to own the inevitable problems. Her hopes of a workable compromise died in the election of 2017.
Johnson’s undermining of her authority and subsequent take-over as PM began an ever faster descent to the denouement of his ousting and the current farce.
Sadly the archive has expanded to the point where we no longer have space and I feel it would be more useful if made available to a wider audience. If you or your readers can help in finding a new home I would be happy to deliver the magazines in bound volumes.
