A DISCOUNT supermarket in Hampshire is due to reopen with a fresh new look after a refurbishment.
Aldi will reveal its new look for its Romsey store when it re-opens on Thursday, October 20 at 8am.
The transformation is part of Aldi’s £600m investment into improving its stores and services across the UK, and is based on feedback from more than 50,000 customers. The Project Fresh renovations have been ongoing since 2018.
The supermarket, standing at 842 sq m of retail space, will reveal a more customer-focused layout allowing customers’ most-loved products to be found more easily while browsing new ranges.

More space has been made for fresh British meat and fish as well as Lacura health and beauty products, beers, wines and spirits, Mamia babycare products, and a new and improved Food to Go section, offering a choice of fresh salads, sandwiches and sushi.
Store manager Samuel Parker said: “The store is looking fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome our loyal customers back so they can see it for themselves. We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our stores is on a par with the products and services they’re used to.”
The store, in The Hundred, closed on September 18 and has since been sparking conversation on Facebook with people complaining about the price of tea from other shops.
One person commented in Romsey News and Information said: "I never truly appreciated their lower prices as it always felt a bit shabby and bleak. But after spending £20 on a pathetically small bag of groceries in the co-op I'll be glad when a more affordable and not outright extortionate option opens again.”
The updated format aims to make shopping easier for customers by having more space and clearer signs. Fresh bread and cakes have been moved to the last aisle, preventing them from getting squashed under customers’ shopping, and the store will now offer new freezers that are easier to browse.

Romsey customers can also take a walk down the ‘Aisle of Aldi, where they will find ‘Specialbuys’, available every Thursday and Sunday. During re-opening week, the store will be running its Big Toy Event, including a learning tablet for £9.99, a double-sided easel for £24.99 and a wooden percussion set for £8.99.
The store employs 38 people and has 109 car parking spaces. Located at 35 The Hundred, Romsey, SO51 8GE the supermarket will be open Monday to Saturday 8am until 10pm and 10am until 4pm on Sundays.
