A WINCHESTER pharmacy came out on top of the innovation category in the annual Independent Pharmacy Awards.
Remedi Health, based in Southgate Street, was awarded Pharmacy Innovation of the Year at the 2022 Independent Pharmacy Awards.
Manager and pharmacist Deborah Evans was presented with the award at a ceremony in the House of Commons on September 30, having beaten off other pharmacies from across the UK.
The private pharmacy owner said: “As an independent new business in Winchester, being recognised by the Independent Pharmacy Awards nationally is hugely rewarding. We strive to offer our clients a wide range of high quality health and wellbeing services to prevent illness and easy access to clinical support when they feel unwell. This award recognises the many different services as a private pharmacy that we now offer.”
In July, the growing independent pharmacy also picked up the New Business Award at Winchester Business Awards of Excellence 2022.
Remedi Health was one of the first UK organisations to be listed by the government as a private provider of Covid testing rather than an NHS provider.
The pharmacy, which opened in December 2021 having previously operated from a pop-up location offering Covid tests, has no plans to have an NHS contract and instead offers clinical services and prescriptions privately.
Private services include a specialist menopause clinic, ear health, genetic cancer screening, blood testing and phlebotomy, travel health, Covid testing, allergy and food intolerance testing, medication reviews, sexual health screening and stop smoking and weight management services.
Plans for 2023 include the launch of a full contraceptive service and gut health service to support the food intolerance and allergy testing service.
The annual Independent Pharmacy Awards is organised by Independent Community Pharmacist, the UK’s business magazine dedicated to independent community pharmacy. The awards focus on recognising dedicated pharmacists and their teams who make a real difference to local communities.
